Sunday

On Sunday morning after church, the people of Salamanca come together on the Plaza Major and walk around in the first sunlight of February. They stroll and the women show off their fur coats. After the walk they sit on the terraces and drink their coffee.

Beautiful city, with the oldest university in Europe. This is Castillia. I'm from Spain and looking this two shots is like to travel back on time. They totally capture one face of the national-catholicism. A time in Spain's history better to forget but still alive: family, country and religion are their values. Don't mess with them.

Yes, you are referring to the Inquisition. I have found many houses where the kitchen was way back in the house and it would ahve no windows at all. This was done to prevent the Inquisition from earsdropping in the evenings. So you can see how long it took for the people to find a solution to fight the spies...
